Lucky Stiff Auditions

Tuesday 23rd & Thursday 25th August, 8pm

After the great success of Blithe Spirit last month, we are jumping straight into our next big show - Lucky Stiff, which we'll be performing in November and December. Read on to find out how you can get involved.

Sing Through

Thursday 18th August, 8pm at the Hut

We're getting together to sing through some of the songs so that everyone can familiarise themselves with the show in advance of the auditions. Come along and have a good old sing song, there's no pressure, no one will be asked to sing solo and then we'll all head to the pub afterwards, lovely!

Auditions

Tuesday 23rd and Thursday 25th August, 8pm at the Hut

You only need to come to one of the above not both, but you're welcome to come to both if you'd like to. The audition itself will be fairly informal. You'll be asked to read and sing a short piece (which you will be taught) for our director Keith and the two other members of our casting committee and then it's off to the pub!

More about the show

This is a comedy musical production in which all of the characters sing, but fear not! We don't need the most amazing voices, this is all character singing. What we need is confidence and enthusiasm and any one of you can sing these songs, just give it a go!

It's an exciting show to be part of with several actors playing multiple characters with lots of costume changes, lots of set changes and a little bit of dancing thrown in for good measure.

Synopsis

Lucky Stiff
A musical farce by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty

Based on the novel The Man Who Broke The Bank At Monte Carlo by Michael Butterworth, Lucky Stiff is an offbeat, hilarious murder mystery farce complete with mistaken identities, six million bucks in diamonds, and a corpse in a wheelchair. The story revolves around an unassuming English shoe salesman who is forced to take the embalmed body of his recently murdered uncle on a vacation to Monte Carlo. Should he succeed in passing his uncle off as alive, Harry Witherspoon stands to inherit $6,000,000. If not, the money goes to the Universal Dog Home of Brooklyn, or else his uncle's gun-toting ex!

Lucky Stiff has an ensemble cast of 10-20 men and women. There will be more info on the parts available emailed to members, but contact Keith or a Committee member if you want to find out more.
