Play Reading Tues 14th April
Auditions - Tuesday 21st & Thursday 23rd April
Stop press! We've got play reading and auditions for the July production THIS WEEK! Please join us whenever you can. If you want to be involved but can't make these dates do get in touch with our lovely director Keith Harper or any member of the committee to let us know, so that you can still be considered for a role.
Play Reading
Tuesday 14th April at 8pm at the Hut.
As usual an informal social gathering to drink tea, read the plays and find out more about what roles both on and backstage we have available. We have two plays to read this time and we'll decide which one to perform based on your feedback and interest in the plays.
Auditions
Tuesday 21st & Thursday 23rd April at 8pm at the Hut.
You only need to come to one of the above not both, but you're welcome to come along to both if you'd like to. The audition itself will be informal, you'll be asked to read for our director Keith and will get plenty of time to ask questions about the plays and the roles if you missed the play reading.
The Plays
We will be reading the following plays and choosing which one to perform in July:
Rumours
English version written by Neil Simon
Four couples meet for a dinner party at which the host is never seen as he has shot himself in the ear. His wife is also absent. As various guests arrive the storyline about his absence changes hence the title 'Rumours' as no-one knows the whole story. Finally the police arrive to investigate a road accident and end up investigating the sound of gunfire.
This is a quick paced comedy set on two floors with lots of opening and closing doors.
Rumours has 9 cast members plus one small walk on part at the end. It is written as 5 male and 5 female but the parts are flexible.
Don't Dress for Dinner
A comedy by Marc Camoletti
In a stylish converted French farmhouse Bernard is hoping to entertain his chic Parisian mistress Suzy for the weekend. He has arranged for a cordon bleu cook to furnish the gourmet delights, is in the process of packing his wife Jacqueline off to her mother, and has even invited along his best friend Robert as a suitable alibi. It's foolproof - what could possibly go wrong?
Well supposing Robert turns up without knowing why he has been invited? Say, Robert and Jacqueline are secret lovers. Or how about the cook being mistaken for the mistress and the mistress being mistaken for the cook. Mix all these ingredients and you have the perfect recipe for an evening of hilarious confusion as Bernard and Robert improvise at breakneck speed!
Don't Dress for Dinner has a cast of 3 men and 3 women with one of the male characters being a cameo at the end.
